Ena Boskovic

Biography

“I lose track of time and enter a state of flow. My hands respond to the clay as the clay responds to my hands. My thoughts become clouds passing by, something I can only watch. Now and then, there is only the blue sky between them.”

Ena Boskovic builds vessels by coiling, one of the oldest techniques in ceramics, shaping each piece by hand, layer upon layer. Based in Tulum, between the sea and the jungle, she considers nature her greatest teacher. She completed a Certificate in Creative Practices at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York in 2024. Where the stitched seams remain visible, overlapping marks recall leaves, bark or scales. Boskovic returns to the vessel, an ancient form once essential to survival, reimagining it as a half-open space, much like a body.

Her practice balances precision and surrender. Most works remain unglazed, coated instead with layers of black or white terra sigillata that crack as they dry and again in the kiln. Boskovic preserves these cracks and deeper fissures, moving the vessel away from function toward pure form. Each piece bears both the touch of her hands and the marks left by fire.
